Nipple piercing infection. I’m not sure if it was self done, friend did it or anyone unprofessional, but I know that’s definitely not supposed to happen. Source: BMJ

well became at this state, the person should have go directly to piercer and doctor, and there was probably unsteril material or really bad disinfection during the healing.
Never let an infection go too far, always consult doctor and piercer when things are going bad !

A quick google search is telling me that this isn’t the result of a botched nipple piercing, but is in fact a very nasty case of breast tissue cellulitis, which can be read about here: http://medicalpicturesinfo.com/breast-cellulitis/
That said, an infection from a nipple piercing can spread and cause extreme cellulitis if not caught early enough, so whilst not being a direct cause because of a piercing, a piercing done wrong can still cause a similar effect.
