Post

Remember that one time when US kpop fans were scammed?

Not sure what year it was, it was probably 2009 or earlier but there was this huge announcement on Soompi where there was going to be a “KPOP CONCERT” in LA and some of the names that were listed were:

Epik High

Big Bang

Dbsk

Snsd

Lee Hyori

Super Junior

FT Island (not sure) etc.

They had this really legit looking website and had all the seats planned. It was going to be at the Nokia Theatre (i think, i dont remember quite well). I think they partnered with Koreatimes as well, so people didn’t think it was suspicious.

They had flyers all over LA, I SAW IT MYSELF.

There were volunteers posting on soompi about it.

Ticket sales were released and had the “VIP” option where fans will have an opportunity to eat lunch with the artists.

Some people from other countries bought the tickets, the VIP ones were I think $400+ per person. I think there might have been some tickets sold from ticketmaster, not sure still.

Then the date was pushed back.

and back…

and all of a sudden the website did not exist anymore. The volunteers disappeared, some reappeared on soompi and told everyone that the office all of a sudden was empty. They themselves were shocked.

Refunds were only done by the people from koreatimes if you bought it from them, NOT if you bought directly from the scammer’s website, which was what most of the people did at first.

I think it might be happening again. I just saw unconfirmed (by the actual korean entertainment company) concert shows being reblogged everywhere.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THEM UNLESS THERE IS A CONFIRMATION FROM THE REAL KOREAN ENTERTAINMENT BY ITSELF. I SAW THIS HAPPEN GUYS. MANY WERE UPSET AND I DON’T EVEN KNOW IF THE PEOPLE WHO TRIED TO SUE THE SCAMMERS GOT ANYWHERE.
